Advancing the understanding of using biosourced and bioinspired soft materials for targeted molecular trafficking and niche food applications
Nikiforidis Lab employs a combination of chemistry, physical chemistry, and cell biology to understand the potential of biosourced molecules, like proteins and lipid droplets, as delivery systems or as functional food ingredients. We extract proteins and lipid droplets from biomass following simple steps and discover new functionalities. We are interested in understanding the trafficking of lipophilic therapeutics from lipid droplets to the skin and intestine cells and also constructing healthy and tasty foods.
